Five year of Advertising (Part II)

28 Jul

Some of the things I’ve learned the past five years from the advertising world.
If you don’t understand, just ask.
Everyone is a designer.
Say yes, then figure it out later. (Also mentioned in The Imagineering Way)
Make the logo bigger.
Most ad agency people love Mad Men.
Pop culture is rampant.
Trusting movie reviews from designers usually leads me to the right movies.
Everyone is busy.
Don’t put a phone # on your car unless you are a perfect driver.
Pranks happen.
Deadlines are intense.
Double, even triple check everything.
Proofread always. Spell check is your friend.
Always know the point size of all fonts in your design because the question gets asked often.
Save all emails til the end of the world.
Invest in mass amounts of back-up drives.
Stock photos are life savers, just make sure the client is aware of costs.
Research should be a full-time job.
Pick your battles.
RSS feeds are a secret weapon that must be used properly.
Politeness is a great attribute to have.

It is rather interesting for me to read that article. Thanx for it. I like such themes and anything that is connected to them. I would like to read more on this site soon. BTW, rather nice design that blog has, but don’t you think design should be changed once in a few months?

Glad you enjoyed it. I like consistency, so I probably won’t change it too much.
