Touchdown Telethon!

Jaguars Telethon CBS 47

Live Tweeting from Jags Telethon

Last night, I was given an opportunity that any Jacksonville Jaguars fan would have dreamed to have. With an hour before a live broadcast featuring numerous Jaguar players, the Touchdown Jax Team was asked to join these distinguished guests in the CBS 47 news studio. Jaxson de Ville, Roar cheerleaders, several Team Teal volunteers, a few of the Jaguars top brass and Carl Cannon, Chairman of Touchdown Jacksonville, were also part of this impressive event.

The plan was to sell season tickets and they did! An old-school telethon was taking place. Players and cheerleaders were answering phones ringing off the hook. Many fans who are already season ticket holders called to simply say “Go Jaguars!” Of course, there were a few Tebow calls. By this I mean, fans still upset about the Jags not drafting the Gators quarterback. To which I say, get over it! The draft is done, let’s focus on the season and the hard-working players we do have.

Gerald Alexander (@GA42), Deji Karim, D’Anthony Smith, Tyson Alualu, Larry Hart, Aaron Kampman with his son, Russell Allen, Uche Nwaneri, Jarett Dillard, Scotty McGee, Kyle Bosworth and Kynan Forney showed off their sales skills. Most impressive award goes to Kynan Forney, a 10-year vet, who was patience yet firm, when a caller who was disheartened by draft, blackouts and stadium location kept him talking for about 20 minutes.

Just from being around this handful of players, its obvious the camaraderie they have. Football may be their job, but their dedication is apparent. Most dedicated goes to Scotty McGee! He hung out for the whole two hours, took multiple shifts on the phones and even spoke to a caller who already had season tickets, but called to talk to him. Uche Nwaneri gained a new nickname “The Closer.” He closed three season ticket requests, definitely on fire!
